An action is a part of a [[glossary:rule|rule]] that performs some operation. The [[glossary:rule_language|rule language]] has a number of pre-defined actions. Actions can perform validation, assign values to [[glossary:attribute|attributes]], create, find or display [[glossary:business_object|business objects]], start [[glossary:process|processes]], display or print documents, [[glossary:import|import]] or [[glossary:export|export]] data, communicate with other software and perform other operations.
