A communication channel is a software adaptor carrying communication between aware_im and an intelligent object. Aware IM provides several channels that allow communicating with people via e-mail or software systems via a standard data exchange protocol (SOAP). Custom communication channels can be developed and plugged into Aware IM for situations where a software or device does not support the standard communication protocol.
