Rule evaluation is a process of **//[[glossary:aware_im]]//** considering [[glossary:rule|rules]] to determine whether their [[glossary:action|actions]] need to be executed. //**Aware IM**// evaluates rules attached to a configuration element when an event happens that affects that element. For example, when a [[glossary:business_object|business object]] is modified or a [[glossary:process|process]] is started. When such an event takes place //**Aware IM**// evaluates all rules in the relevant [[glossary:rule_collection|rule collection]]. How evaluation is performed depends on the [[glossary:rule_execution_order|rule order]] in the rule collection.
