There have ben a number of posts regarding users having problems with their VPS machines stopping working for no apparent reason. I myself experienced problems some while ago.
I've also replied on other posts that since moving to a dedicated server last December, everything has been fine.
We did however have one hiccup for a few days back in April this year - which although nothing to do with AwareIM - might be of interest to others.
To cut a long story short, one of my customers installed Drupal on the (dedicated) server. Suddenly, the server - which had been performing flawlessly suddenly started exhibiting the same symptoms as when I had AwareIM running on a VPS. It would stop accepting new logins for no apparent reason.
I ordered the customer (who happened to be my son so I could do that since he's not paying me anything) to remove all traces o Drupal from the server. We have had flawless operation ever since its removal.
I didn't have time to investigate since the downtime was costing me money and effort under my SLA. So if any Drupal experts out there can shed any light on this - it might be helpful to others.
It does however highlight the dangers or running on older style VPS (not xen cloud servers) where you have no idea nor any control over whatever else might be happening on your hardware node _________________ Rocketman
