It is no secret that the end user requirements cannot always be fully defined. They can also differ from user to user, even for the same type of application. As a result, it is next to impossible for developers to build applications that totally satisfy their customers.
Aware IM 4.95 takes a major step forward to provide a greater flexibility and empower the end users to customize pre-configured Aware IM applications to their needs. This allows the end users to close the gap by adding the necessary functionality to the base application.
This key new functionality allows the end users to define their own workflow. They can define their own business processes in terms of business rules using data, email and document templates, conditions and actions available in the application. In short, the users (if allowed by the developer) have almost the same level of flexibility when defining a custom process at run-time as the developer when creating an application with the Aware IM Configuration Tool.
On top of that, the system keeps log of the process execution so that the users can check which of their processes were executed and when. The screenshots below illustrate some of the new functionality (click an image to see the full-size version):
Every message, label, or any other static text displayed on screen can now be fully re-defined at run-time. This is extremely useful for application administrators who wish to fine-tune a pre-configured application to suit the end users requests.
Options for displaying and manipulating data in a tree form have been greatly expanded and now include drag-and-drop, icons for folder and leaves, context menu with commands defined for the tree.
CAPTCHA. Aware IM now comes with built-in support for CAPTCHA.
It can be used on the login screen to make sure that only humans - not software robots -
submit data to the application. No additional integration work - it is available out of
the box!
Execute anything. Any command accepted by the operating system can now be
executed from inside Aware IM. The command text can be defined using
business rules - just like anything else in Aware IM.
Individual user times. The end users can now see dates displayed by the
application converted to their own local time zone. This is very useful when the same
application is accessed by users from different time zones.
Custom form captions. Form captions now accept tags, for example to display a
customer or product name in the form caption.
Attribute styles in queries. It is now possible to use different colors for
individual values in queries - not just one style for the entire row.
Custom column labels for queries. Yet another degree of flexibility that allows
changing the column label from the attribute name (default) to anything more suitable.
Data type format in attribute styles. You can now specify number and date
formats in attribute presentations. What's more - you can make it conditional too.
