This is big news for those who need a big powerful database to store a lot of data for their Aware IM applications. Aware IM works with Oracle in exactly the same way as it does with MySQL, SQL Server or Derby. It automatically creates and changes database tables, manages database transactions, allows sub-queries, etc.
It will be especially useful for organizations that already have Oracle as part of their IT infrastructure. Now they can utilize their database power and combine it with benefits provided by Aware IM to efficiently build and maintain web applications.
Oracle support is included with Aware IM Enterprise and is optional for the other editions.
Another useful feature for organizations that maintain their information in central directories. You can now simply define an object in your Aware IM application and be able to search, view and update LDAP data as if it was stored in a database. All communication is fully automated and technical details hidden.
What's more, Aware IM can use LDAP data for user authentication! There is no need to duplicate user records in your Aware IM application to let them login to the application.
LDAP support is included with Aware IM Enterprise and is optional for the other editions.
You can now hide the horizontal lines separating data rows on forms. You can also use attribute tags in data form cells just like in reports or document templates, for example:
<<Member.FirstName>> <<Member.LastName>>, <<AGE(Member.DateOfBirth>> years old
to display the member data like this:
John Smith, 39 years old
It is no longer necessary to add extra attributes for presentation purposes or design custom forms for simple needs like this one. Since the form cells allow HTML you can also apply any desired style to the whole data element or its separate portions, break it into several lines or present it any other way as desired.
There will be more UI improvements coming out shortly, so stay tuned.
Other improvements in Aware IM 2.3 mean that you now can:
