New in version 1.3

Inline editing of related data

Applications created with Aware IM now support inline editing of related data in a grid! Users will be able to change the values of related objects without having to bring up a form for this object. In the example below Purchase Order object contains a number of related Order Item objects. In version 1.3 it is now possible to add and edit Order Item objects from the form of the owning Purchase Order object:

Moreover, if the related data has its own related data, it is possible to change it as well! In the example above Order Item objects refer to the Part being ordered. By clicking an icon located next to the "Part No" field in the "Items" table it is possible to select the Part being ordered from the list of existing Parts.

Tree representation of related data

In version 1.3 it is now possible to display related data as trees! All you need to do is turn on tree representation of related data and the user will be able to see and easily navigate the related data in a tree. In the example below the Account object has Owner (Client object). Each account owner may have multiple accounts and multiple loans (Loan object). Each loan has Staff responsible for looking after the Loan. The tree structure of these relationships for a particular account is shown:

Tree representation of related data may be especially useful for displaying hierarchical objects. In the example below the Part object may contain components, which are also Part objects. Each component may or may not contain its own components. The tree representation of a Part with its components is shown.

Context help for attributes on forms

In version 1.3 it is now possible to define help for fields on forms. The help is displayed as a small pop-up window when the user clicks on the "help" icon located next to the field (see below):
