1 reason a Dark Theme for ConfigTool will be tough...

... because your application doesn't have Dark Mode, so everytime you edit a screen, you're gonna see this big white blob (as in the above pic).
the FORM only has 1 field in it, but its all that blank space that is white in the theme.

so from your eye's perspective, you'll be in dark mode for Fields & Rules, and then you'll edit a Form and get blasted.
Same with Queries... if you're showing the preview, then Whammo!

Another problem is that vlad didn’t use Styles in eclipse [for some of the colored items], so while much of the eclipse product relies on user/developer configurable css, the dark green in the left tree (and the new colors for references) were hard coded, so We can’t change those colors in the Eclipse style sheet. So you can’t see them on black.
And then those white grid lines ... double yuck.

Dark Mode is a must, it should be a simple change from an AwareIM perspective. But the feature request has been ignored :(

well, the 1 "yuck" aside, I can show you how you can get what I had in my pics - its easy. I mean, really easy.

The main problem is this from an email I wrote support:
Vlad, in the latest version of Config Tool, did you use styles when defining
1) the colors used in the Element Tree (on the left), and
2) the Attributes - now that you have diff colors for Reference & Shortcuts ?

If so, can you tell me what those Styles are?

Per this thread,
https://www.awareim.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=11503
I’m working on a Dark Mode,
But those colors needs to be tweaks for a black background. So if you hardcoded them, it will be tough.
... of course, like I said, your eyes would STILL get a shock when you displayed a preview of a Query/Form (unless the Kendo theme of your App was also a dark theme).
Reply:
No, we didn't use styles - they are hardcoded.
Which means there's no way to change the colors in the left tree, and no way to change the new colors of reference fields.
Its THAT close to being usable now, but without changes from AIM, we're out of luck.

I have finally found an affordable solution to going Dark. This beats anything I have tried before and gets you a perfect dark mode. Also does not rely on AwareIM settings

get a trial from IRIS at https://iristech.co/i/QYLLx

once installed set to Programming Mode, there are numerous screen settings allowing you to customise.

Lol
I forgot that I use this on my android tablet in my bedroom, shows a clock.
I use this to change the tint automatically so it doesn’t have blue light at night in the bedroom.
Never thought about using it in this way.
I probably have the free version.
Neat idea!
