I have been working on testing a business space. On one occassion I went to log in and it immediately re-presented the log in. When I logged in again, all the standard menu icons are appearing as broken links (they still function). This now happens every time I test the business space.
I created a new minor version to see if it would resolve but the same.

Other business spaces are functioning correctly.

Please do the following:

1) Go to the AwareIMRoot/Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM directory
Delete the files starting with the following prefixes:
a) BAS_MenuHBASTestDomainBusinessSpace_
b) BAS_MenuHBASTestDomainBusinessSpace_
c) BAS_WelcomeBASTestDomainBusinessSpace_
d) BAS_HomeBASTestDomainBusinesSpace_

where "BusinessSpace" is the name of the business space that has a problem
2) Delete the sub-directory starting with the following prefix:
painter_BASTestDomainBusinessSpace_

3) Log into the business space

This will force Aware IM to regenerate all icons and menu for the business space and fix the problem.

Hi,

I deleted 3 files stated (one was repeated - should that gave been BAS_MenuVBASTestDomain - I tried with this deleted as well) and the subdirectory. Now it doesn't immediately re-present the login screen but does still have broken links for the menu icons.

Tye four files re-created but the subdirectory did not.

I am using 1.6(Beta) Build770

Another way to fix this is to lock version for editing in the Configuration Tool and make it available for testing again. This will force Aware IM to re-generate the "painter_" directory and fix the problem.

Aware IM generates the directory and icons only after a new version has been published or if someone manuallly deletes certain files that Aware IM is looking for. The problem happens if Aware IM was disrupted during login - before it finished generating all the appropriate icons. This is not a serious problem and there is no corruption here. The problem sometimes happens with us as well during development.

I wonder is this the same thing that you are experiencing from time to time in test.

I have deleted as you suggested and they recreated themselves to no avail.

The issue of locking and then testing is something I have done frequently as changes are being made but still the menu items are not re-appearing.

I also exported the bsv, created a new business space and then imported it but still it is happening. Is there something more fundamentally wrong with the business space definition ?

Then it IS a different problem. Does it happen in 1.6 beta?

Could you please do the following to help us identify the problem:
1) Publish a new version for testing
2) Log into the operation mode to see the icons missing
3) Go to the Aware IM Control Panel and send us the output of the Tomcat server
4) Send us the BSV file and tell us which icons are missing (in case we do not reproduce the problem here, which is quite likely)
5) Send us a list of files in the painter_ directory

The problem is caused by the usage of "&" symbol in the "Templates & Queries" menu item in the visual perspective. We'll be fixing this problem. In the meantime please replace the "&" symbol with "and".
