Config tool port 9000 and operational mode not connecting

Post by mraath »

Hi Guys
I am on version 3 build 1027.
I am getting the following error on system startup for the config tool:

Unable to start Aware IM server because port 9000 is not available or there is already another copy of Aware IM Server running. Change the SystemPort property in the BASServer.props file to specify a different port number.

I have got it working by changing the port in the basserver and uiconfig files.

However when trying to test or run operation version the login page throws an error saying it cannot connect to the server.

Help appreciated.

Thanks
Marcus

You also need to change the port in the file webapp.props located in the AwareIM/Tomcat/webapps/AwareIM folder.

The only reason i needed to change the ports is bacause aware refused to work on the default port.
Telling me how to get the tesing mode of operation to work again should not be something i have to pay for.
This is not something i have caused.

Be reasonable, please tell me whch file i need to edit to correct the port for testing mode.

Thanks

m,
Your wasting alot of your time without finding what the true issue may be. Simply port 9000 in being blocked. Check you firewall and do a Port scan to see what is using that port.

This could save you the trouble of changing multiple files and such inside of Aware. If you are in need of a port scanner send me a PM and I can send you one.

Good luck,
Chris

Hi Chris
I sent you a PM.
The message i get when trying to log in to test mode is"Invalid credtials or Access Denied""
This only happed after i changed the ports from 9000 to 9001.

Please try a different port number everywhere, for example 9005. 9001 is used internally by Aware IM.

Marcus,

I regularly see this issue if AwareIM has lost its connection with the Config Tool and is trying to restart with a copy already running.

Assuming you are running AwareIM under windows,
Check that you dont have a left over copy of java.exe or javaw.exe running.

Exit AwareIM, use the TaskManager to look at the tasks is alphabetical order. Terminate any extra java.exe and javaw.exe

restart AwareIM

Marcus set your ports back to the default and try a reboot.

Hi John
I have tried this may times, and have jsut done this gain.
Still it complains that port 9000 is not available.
When i configure a new port, everything works except testing mode.
The message given is that "Wrong credentials or access denied".

Try to chage your port settings and see if testing mode still works.

Is there anything in the output of the Aware IM Server?

Is there a chance that you are using wrong user name/password/business space combination?

Id stick with the standard config if at all possible and try to find out what is occupying port 9000.

Again assuming you are on Windoze try netstat -b in a cmd.exe window to see what executeable is attached to what port.

Start > Run 'cmd"
netstat -b
