Choice List

Post by RocketRod »

Not sure if its been asked for before and I did try to post it in the Wish List forum but I don't have access to.

I would like to be able to use results of a query for a choice list when defining an attribute so that they are built and maintained dynamically instead of having to have them hard coded.

Have you considered a reference list instead or a choice list?

I think you could build logic to automatically add items to the reference list & present the reference list in drop down format.

Mmm I'll try that but the query would be the ideal.

Yep, I understand. I use queries to provide drop down options in MS Access quite a bit.

Yes and I use Microsoft Business Reporting off my SQL database which has the same feature in setting up parameters.

Aware IM's way of doing this IS to use reference lists as Tom suggested. You can only use queries to find instances of the objects, and, therefore, the choice list MUST represent references.
