So, Apple's new silicon is getting highly positive reviews with high performance against relatively low memory needs (chips appear to be limited to 16GB ram).
I'm not on the verge of buying one yet, but my iMac is coming to the end of being supported. Big Sur (issues already identified aside) allegedly ships with a Rosetta 2 emulator but does anyone understand what the issues are around native M1 support, beyond the porting of OpenJDK or Oracle JDK to ARM, for AIM to support M1 ARM.

Re: Apple Silicon
I think you need to get one, test it and report back to the masses. I will invest 25 cents towards your purchase.

Re: Apple Silicon
My 2 mac automatically updated to Big Sur and I am able to use the client (connecting to a windows server) to continue programming. There are some bugs, mostly display issues. But it works ok.
