[Solved] MySql Server startup password authentication type

Post by tford »

After installing MySql on my laptop following the Installation Guide, I received this error when I started the Aware IM Control Panel:
Server startup error. Access to database is denied.
After verifying my credentials to access the server by connecting using the same credentials with Navicat and verifying that those credentials had ALL privileges, I found that the Authentication Type that was the default when I installed MySql on my laptop was different than the Authentication Type used on our production server. I was unable to change the Authentication Type (it was greyed out), so I simply created a new user and set the Authentication Type to Standard. Success when I connected the Aware IM Control Panel using the new credentials.
