Maria DB on Mac

Can I please ask if anyone here is using Maria DB on a Mac?

If so... any issues?

I have installed it via Homebrew and Maria seems to be running but i keep getting this error whenever I try to connect to it.

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

Spent an entire day trying to resolve with no luck.

Also, what Database Management Client are you using to look at / rdit the data?

Mark, have your MariaDB service already running in your Mac OS?
The error similar in Linux.

Perhaps you have mySQL still running? By default mySQL and mariaDB use the same port of 3306 so they cannot run at the same time.

Well... I "think" I have totally removed MySQL but still have the same issue.

Wasted so mych time on it. It is driving me crazy.

All sorted , was an unconfigured engine and some privileges that needed work.
