Referencing time stamp

I have a bo (product) that has an attribute that is a time stamp. I am trying to reference this same time in a separate bo called ( item). I have tried using a shortcut and tried referencing with item.timestamp=Product.timestamp. In this instance it creates, if 2 or more items are selected, a cross reference of the two times and both are not associated with the right item as it creates 2 times for each item. So item 1 will be created with 2 separate times when only a quantity of 1 was selected. I have tried these rules in both a process and as an attached rule to the item. I have also tried the reference as a plain text and as a number. Both attributes now have the same time stamp set up so HH:mm. Any help or small guidance would be appreciated as always.
