For what it is worth... this is what I have in my mfu javascript file which restricts the upload image file size and also the number of images that can be uploaded at any one time.

I use PDFCombine from CoolUtils.

I use the Command Line version and it works great....

I throw everything I want in a final PDF.... html, excel, word etc into a temporary folder and get a resulting PDF file
